Start the New Year with creativity

By Fiona Donnellan

January is the perfect time to unplug, explore new hobbies, and embrace your creative side. Pop Out Projects, a family-run business based along the Wild Atlantic Way in Sligo is launching its Ultimate Learn-to-Weave Kit (€76) at Showcase Ireland (the premier trade show for Irish design) at the RDS from 19–21 January 2025.

The Ultimate Learn-to-Weave Kit includes the patented Rocket Loom, three patterning combs, a vibrant selection of Donegal tweed yarn, and a brand-new full-colour instruction book with 14 stunning projects to inspire beginners and seasoned crafters alike.

The Rocket Loom's clever design allows you to complete your first project in as little as 30 minutes, making weaving more accessible than ever before.

Pop Out Projects blends sustainability with tradition, designing and crafting all their products in Ireland using premium, natural materials. From FSC-certified birch ply made from sustainable managed plantations in Finland, and produced using solar and geothermal energy to 100% wool yarn spun in Donegal, the company is committed to a plastic-free, eco-conscious approach.

Born during lockdown when Founders Maeve and Aran Pudney created a simple loom for their children, the Rocket Loom has grown into an innovative tool with features like interchangeable patterning combs for intricate designs, and flat-pack convenience.

With the rise of slow fashion and a renewed interest in textile heritage, the Rocket Loom introduces a new generation to Ireland’s rich weaving traditions. The gorgeous tweed colourways are created by Maeve who has an eye for colour and a long history of knitting in her family.
